"Peshtera Open 2014" is a Bulgarian National Championships open for foreign pilots to participate. The competition will be held from 12th until 17th august in the vicinity of the towns Krichim, Bratsigovo and Peshtera.

​The towns Krichim, Bratsigovo and Peshtera are situated in the skirts of Rodopi mountain with rather beautiful sceneries. One of those picturesque parts of Bulgaria one should visit.

​Climate is moderate continental. The steep slopes of the Rodopi mountain create excellent conditions for flying hang and para gliders. The precipitation maximum is in may / june, while july, august and september are months for good XC flights.

The launch sites,  are located near Zhrebichko village wich can be reached by asphalt road.  They can be reached by 1 km after the village of dirt road available for every car.

Start 1 is equipped with ramp for take off, which is built near St. Elias chapel, direction NE, E., denivelation is 600 m.

Start 2 covers wind directions N, NE - grass surface and denivelation 850 m.

The slope is excellent for soaring,  thermal activity starts early - easterly launch, and is assisted by the mixed face of the slope. Pilots with less experience tend to easily find and center thermals. Flight area invites for mountain and flat lands XC flying with tasks of 100+ km. Landing fields are rather big in general, pick up road net allows for a quick retreival, and landing beer is cold and at incredibly low prices.

Competition headquarter is at the "Hostel" Herkal - Peshtera city. The hostel offers 10 beds for free. A conference room will be available for the competition.

​There is a good number of big and smaller family hotels in and around Krichim, Peshtera and Bratsigovo as well as private lodging and appartments. There is an option for free camping in the security area.
